How We got Started
Our company was born out of dialog between friends.
We are a parent of a teenager, just like our friends and relatives, and we always talked about the education and future of our children. No matter how well the parents were educated, it was hard for anyone to handle all aspects of educating their child. To all of us, giving the appropriate help at the right moment was always difficult.
After many rounds of talks, one of our friends suggested gathering children of interested families and have the parents take a turn teaching them in subjects they had good mastery. Initially, the suggestion seemed realistic as we would entrust the teaching to someone that best understands the children, a parent. When we tried to pursue the idea, however, everyone’s jobs interfered with finding the time, place, and effort to have this meeting. In the end, this idealistic proposal was abandoned as the friend who first suggested the meeting moved to a different city.
We believe the main reason why this plan didn’t succeed was that there wasn’t anyone to take the charge of the whole organization and development. Therefore, we created Complete Learning Academy, a place where we can gather small groups of students and offer them the education they need in Pittsburgh.
The head instructor of Complete Learning Academy, Wontaek, has a master’s degree in electrical engineering and another master’s degree in physics, both from Purdue University, and also has years of experience, teaching 2nd to 12th grades in Korean style prep school as well as college and graduate students in universities. The director, Kyungha, knew what is needed to succeed in college life. She got interested in educational neuroscience while doing her dissertation at the Seoul National University and Purdue University Graduate School and has long researched how to use the latest findings in educational researches in various teaching situations.
We believe that if a student builds up his understanding, practice proper application of logic in various situations, and develop steady studying habits, he will succeed not just in getting accepted into a college, but in any stage of the student’s life. It is our hope that all students will succeed in their life objectives, thus created Complete Learning Academy to help the students understand more, learn better, and think more logically, in place of their parents who are too busy with other things they must do for their family.
Complete Learning Academy will always remember its founding vision, that truly complete learning should be something that increases the knowledge and understanding of a student, and serve them for their whole life.

Utilizing the Latest Finding in Neuroeducational Research
The Complete Learning Academy, aka CLA, was established to provide quality education service that utilizes the latest findings in educational research while encouraging ethics and character growth in the students. The recent boom in educational neuroscience revealed much about how we learn and CLA seeks to take advantage of what the leading frontier of science told us so far. CLA will utilize methods such as active learning methods, distributed learning methods, and motivation/reward methods, which has shown to be effective in the right situations.
Flexible Hours and Setting
The classroom size is not the only flexibility CLA offers. Depending on the need of the students, CLA offers a one month long Intensive test prep class, One Semester ( which is about four months) long thorough review class, and a one year long foundation building class. The students will be guided to the class that best fits their test schedules and plan for their college. Please come in for a free initial evaluation to start your journey to a future career. There is ample parking space available on the building’s parking lot, and we can take your inquiry any day of the week from 8 am to 10 pm. We offer academic help for those still in their elementary school to those that are in the universities preparing for their graduate school exams.
