Economics Instructor Wanted
Complete Learning Academy is looking for individuals who will help students study Economics at various levels. Typical classes are about 60 to 90 minutes long. Depending on the performance and other experiences and knowledge, the instructors will be given other teaching opportunities in Complete Learning Academy.
CLA’s instructor has the freedom to accept or decline teaching opportunities. This will let you teach only when you have spare time. A typical instructor in CLA may teach as little as 3 hours per week, or as many as 40 hours per week, depending on their availability and the number of students asking for their service.
Initial hourly pay will be $32 per hour for the first 4 weeks. At the end of the 4th week, the instructor’s performance will be evaluated to determine whether to continue the instructor’s relationship with CLA. If CLA does decide to continue the relationship with the instructor, the instructor may be given teaching assignments to classes that have more than 1 student, and may also be asked to teach other subjects the instructor is capable of teaching. There will be a bonus payment of $5 per hour for every additional student beyond the 1st student ( EX: If there are 3 students in the class, the hourly pay for this class will be 32 + (3-1) * 5 = $42.)
The desired quality in the instructor is 8 or more courses related to Economics taken in college and/or graduate school with an average GPA of 3.5/4.0 or higher for the last 8 Economics related courses. Please indicate within the cover letter or on the College/University/Graduate School Transcripts which courses are related to Economics, as different schools may use different abbreviations/designations.
In addition, the following scores obtained within the last 20 years can help, but are not necessary.
• SAT score(s)
• ACT scores
• GRE score(s)
• AP score(s)
• IB score(s)
A letter of recommendation from a direct superior to the applicant at one of the applicant’s workplaces is very helpful.
Please also indicate in your resume or cover letter any other subject you would like to teach. Also tell me any subject you prefer to not teach, despite having records of the subject in your transcript or resume. This can help you get additional teaching assignments from us.
After reviewing all the materials submitted, we may invite the applicant for an interview during which we expect to hear about the applicant’s experience or philosophy about teaching Economics. We will also ask the applicant to run a 15-minute-long class. The applicant is free to choose which subject to do the lecture.
CLA can purchase books and materials needed to explore better ways to conduct the class upon the instructor’s recommendation. We may also help long-serving instructors obtain education and training relevant to the classes.
